Message from CEO John C. Hogan
It has been 50 years since we opened up for business! I wonder if our founder, Jack Hall, could have imagined in 1961 that his fledgling practice would one day be celebrating 50 years of engineering accomplishments. That during those 50 years, Hall & Foreman, Inc. (HFI) would plan, engineer, and/or survey projects involving more than a quarter million homes; tens of millions of square feet of retail centers, office buildings, and industrial facilities; thousands of miles of roadways and other infrastructure; and scores of school, college, and civic facilities. That by 2011, the HFI presence would be indelibly stamped throughout southern California and beyond.
Did he foresee that his company would successfully transition its ownership and leadership multiple times over the next five decades? Or, that HFI would expand its markets and geographic presence through a series of strategic mergers with other leading consulting firms?
Could he have imagined that his company, over the years, would employ hundreds of professionals? While some would build their careers with HFI, others would go on to success with agencies, other professional firms, and client organizations. Each can attribute their experience with HFI as having a profound influence on their professional lives.
While I can only guess at how he might answer these questions, I can be sure that he would be very proud that his enterprise has persevered for 50 years, achieving not only success, but something even more important and elusive - significance.
For this, we offer our thanks and gratitude. Our accomplishments would not have been possible but for the collective efforts of many. To our clients, our vendors, and our employees (past and present) and their families, we say “Thank you!” We look forward with excitement and anticipation to our next 50 years.
