Safe Routes to School Infrastructure Program
City of Santa Clarita
This project entailed preparing the PS&E for the City of Santa Clarita in support of their Safe Route to School Program for three elementary schools. The goal of this project was to increase student safety by reducing vehicle speed near the school grounds and increase the visibility of school crossings. Improvements included design and construction of bulb-outs at certain school crossings, restriping crosswalks, installing pedestrian countdown signals and installing speed feedback signs. This project was federally funded with oversight by Caltrans. Hall & Foreman worked with the City to ensure design and construction guidelines comply with federal standards. In addition to design, the team provided field topo for the intersection design and was responsible for construction staking. Services provided included grade control, monument ties and corner records.
